Harry Redknapp may well soon find himself taking position behind bars rather than on the touchline to carry out his role as a Premier League football manager, but bizarrely, the other possibility remains that he will occupy the touchline for some of the most important games in world football, in charge of the England squad.

Bearing in mind those two possibilities, it would seem that his chairman and a man who has done a great deal to improve the fortunes of Tottenham Hotspur over recent years, Daniel Levy, has already started to plan for life without Redknapp at the helm. http://betting.betfair.com/football/

With Tottenham pushing themselves back in contention to end the season as Premier League champions, something that looked highly unlikely after they were beaten by a late, late Manchester City penalty, Spurs were presented with the perfect opportunity to bring in a few players in the recent January transfer window to bolster their squad in an effort to make the last few months of the league as positive as possible.

However, despite that situation emerging, Levy decided not to push ahead with any gung-ho transfer targets thrown at him by Redknapp, instead opting for short term measures that resulted in Spurs only signing experienced players on the cheap to be squad fillers and not shirt sellers. www.betfair.com

If there had been any chance Redknapp was going to stick around next season, he would surely have been allowed to consolidate his team to get them ready for a final push. With this not happening, it now seems more than likely that all parties are agreed that Spurs will be looking for a new manager. The only question that remains is: who will replace Harry?

There’s no doubting the fact that Arsene Wenger is having to fight for everything he can at the moment, both on the pitch with his players and off the pitch with the media and now the club’s fans.

However, the one place where he seems to be fighting a losing battle week after week is the injury room at the Emirates Stadium.

With Wenger forced to witness almost every single one of his star players experience at least a short spell of time on the sidelines since the start of the season, the Frenchman must be wondering what he needs to do to ensure his players maintain a clean bill of health for the rest of the campaign. Fans of soccer online betting need to remember this.

Even though the Arsenal manager has apparently worked tirelessly to identify a cause for the injury record plaguing the North London club, Wenger hasn’t had much luck pinpointing any solutions to a problem that has dragged on for some years now.

With neutrals and football pundits suggesting that injuries to key players have proved the difference between Arsenal winning a trophy and the Gunners remaining in top four mediocrity, Wenger will be all too aware of the need to get his stars fully fit as soon as possible or else risk having to splash the cash on bringing in covering players rather than investing in the long term future of the club.

No doubt one small benefit of the lengthy injury list has been found in the fact that Wenger has been forced to blood a number of inexperienced youngsters this season, but despite the success stories of the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, for some of the Arsenal youngsters their foray into the first team seems to have come far too early in their development, perhaps destroying their potential to enjoy long careers at the club.

Whatever the outcome of the next few games in the league, the difference between Wenger having a job at the end of the season and being out of work could simply come down to how many first team players he can name in his line-up.

Chelsea are in danger of slipping out of the Premier League title race due to their overall inconsistency, while manager Andre Villas-Boas reckons they can get back in the race if they improve in front of goal.

The Blues have suffered too many draws and defeats for their fans and, as a result, they are now facing a fight for just a Premier League top four places rather than challenging the likes of Manchester City and United for the overall trophy. People who bet on Premier League weekend games should remember this.

Villas-Boas seems to be under massive pressure only months into his tenure at Stamford Bridge and he is saddled with an ageing side seemingly devoid of ideas of inspiration.

With Fernando Torres still firing blanks, Didier Drogba a pale shadow of his former self, Daniel Sturridge having to settle for a place on the wing and Nicolas Anelka having followed the money to China, Chelsea are short of goals and that is wreaking havoc on any title ambitions they have.

AVB has backed Torres, stating he has been doing “excellent things” for the team, but he has also called for all the Chelsea players to become more clinical to ensure they do not drop out of the battle for honours. Those betting on football need to bear this in mind.

The Portuguese boss said: “We are in the top three teams for creating chances, but the efficiency was not there and this represents where we are in the table.

“We have to find the consistency for us to get on a winning run which can make this title challenge a little bit more, that is the reality.”

Chelsea do remain in the Champions League this season, but fans will hope their European exertions do not negatively affect them as they look to ensure a Premier League top four finish and another season in the competition.

Manchester United are one of the most famous footballing clubs in the world today. Their impressive and successful history includes: 19 top tier English league titles, 11 FA Cups, 4 League Cups and 3 UEFA Champions League titles. In the 2011 summer transfer window current manager – Sir Alex Ferguson – acquired a total of 3 high-profile players.

These players included: English internationals Phil Jones and Ashley Young from Blackburn and Aston Villa respectively, and youth prospect and Spanish national David de Gea from Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid. So far, the signing that has disappointed me most has to be de Gea. His inconsistency has been prominent during his time at the legendary English club. What he struggles with most is his ability to command the 6-yard-box, especially when it comes to set pieces. Those who bet on premier League games will know all about this.

My favoured signing that Sir Alex Ferguson attained during the summer transfer window of 2011 has to be the acquirement of the awe-inspiring English talent, Phil Jones. He has proven week-in-week-out that he has the ability to compete at the highest level. What inspires me most about Jones’ play is his ability to play in a number of positions. Another quality factor in Jones’ style of play is his incredible strength and ability to run with the ball and ghost past players with ease. Fans of football predictions should bear this in mind.

In terms of transfer targets with regards to the 2012 January transfer window, the name that is rumoured most is Inter Milan’s formidable midfielder Wesley Sneijder. The Dutch international has been outstanding during his time in Serie A, and has consistently performed for his country. He is truly one of the best players in the game today and would definitely add to The Red Devils weakened midfield. Another target rumoured to be on Ferguson’s list is Argentinian international and Benfica’s prolific playmaker Nicolas Gaitan. It’s supposed that United will lodge a bit of around £35 million to acquire the talents of Gaitan.

Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish says he “won’t be busy” in the transfer market this month and has rejected claims players could be sold to fund new arrivals.

Villa striker Darren Bent has been one of the more high-profile players linked with a move in the current transfer window with Liverpool, in desperate need of a goalscorer, still said to be keen on the England international, despite denying they have made a bid.

However, McLeish is adamant there will not be comings and goings at Villa Park over the next few weeks as he has little money to spend and they are not looking to sell anyone. Those looking at the best online betting will be wondering if he can hang on to his best players.

“Unless somebody goes there’s probably not any scope for anything,” he said. “I won’t be busy. We are still steering a ship in terms of managing the wages.

Bent only arrived himself at Villa 12 months ago in a shock big-money move from Sunderland so it would be a bold move to sell him on this January – especially as the experienced striker has generally done well for the Midlanders, scoring 16 goals in 33 appearances to date.

Fabien Delph has also been linked with a move back to his old club, Leeds United, on loan this month and, while that could be a deal McLeish is willing to sanction, he is adamant there will be no big departures even though he is in need of money to strengthen in the long-term.

“At the end of the day you might need to lose a good player to supplement the squad, but at the moment there’s nothing imminent at all,” the Scot added.

“There’s no way we will add to the wages unless some of the wages are offloaded.”

Villa, who only appointed McLeish in the summer – days after he had left arch rivals Birmingham City – have had an inconsistent season so far with plenty of the club’s fans yet to be convinced McLeish is the man to lead them to better times.

They currently sit 13th in the table and have had mixed results, beating Chelsea 3-1 at Stamford Bridge last month being the highlight but also losing at home to the likes of Swansea and West Brom.

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew insists his side can maintain their push for European qualification this season following Sunday’s hard-fought win over QPR.

Leon Best’s first-half goal was enough to hand the Magpies all three points against the R’s, who put up a good fight in the north east in MarK Hughes’ first game in charge.

The win moved Pardew’s men up above Liverpool and into sixth in the Premier League as their impressive form this season shows no sign of abating.

Pardew’s side have surprised many with their performances and results and have undoubtedly been the surprise package in the top flight this season. People following the Premier League football odds will know they have caused a few upsets.

They even saw off Rangers without two of their most influential players so far this term, Cheik Tiote and top scorer Demba Ba – who are both away at the African Nations Cup – so the win was even more welcome for Pardew.

He believes Newcastle, who are now level with fifth-placed Arsenal following their shock defeat at Swansea, can continue to get results – even without Tiote and Ba – and wants them to stay in contention for a top-six finish and European qualification.

“If we can manage to get a couple more wins when the boys are away and they can come back and give us a boost, who knows what we can achieve,” he said.

“But we will never take our eye off things. We are not that naive.

“We are sixth and that’s not just the result today but through 21 games,” Pardew added.

“We are above Liverpool who have fantastic players. It’s amazing we have got where we are.”

Newcastle are also through to the FA Cup fourth round, where they will meet either Brighton or Wrexham at the end of the month, while next up in the league is a trip to Fulham next weekend.

The majority of fans already presume the Premier League title will be heading to Manchester – albeit there is some confusion whether it will be to City or United – but one man convinced the trophy could be in London come May is Spurs boss Harry Redknapp.

There is no doubting the experienced manager has performed a great job at White Hart Lane, taking the team from strugglers near the bottom when he took over to Champions League performers and Premier League top four fighters. Those who bet on Premier League games need to bear this in mind.

Spurs fans will be striving to get back in the Champions League next season but there already seems to be six teams fighting for the Premier League top four spots – and six into four definitely does not go.

With Manchester City and United seemingly looking dominant that could lead Spurs fighting with Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool for those remaining two spots – but Redknapp is more confident than that and can see his team challenging for the title. The Premier League best odds show they have every chance of doing so.

“It’s not impossible for us to win the league,” Redknapp said. “We have a chance. The players believe we have a good chance.

“It’s not beyond the realms of possibility. We are in there. It’s going to be hard but we are not a bad side. We have some real quality. We can play and we have a good spirit.”

Redknapp needs his team to continue their impressive recent form – they have lost only once since the opening two games of the season – if they want to finish in the Premier League top four. This, of course, could be the manager’s last campaign in charge as he has been heavily linked with taking over from Fabio Capello as England boss after Euro 2012.

Since Manchester City’s takeover in 2008 by the Abu Dhabi United Group, City have become a real force in the Premier League, and every other competition they feature in.

Their performances have been especially terrific in the Premier League and they find themselves top of the highest tier in English football. The Blues’ best result so far came against bitter rivals Manchester United with the result ending in a 1-6 away victory to City. People looking at the Premier League betting predictions should bear this in mind.

It was a phenomenal match and clearly proved that Man City are the top dogs in English football. However, not all has been rosy for City. They were recently knocked out of the European Cup after some disappointing but deserved results. The Blues will certainly learn from their mistakes and bounce back in next season’s Champions League. Fans of football odds should remember this.

Manchester United have incurred a dip in form early in the 2011/12 season. Recently, the Red Devils, like Manchester City, were knocked out of the European Cup group stages. As the season is progressing it looks as if United are starting to pick up, which I am sure will make the City fans feel a tad nervous.

Both Manchester sides being knocked out of the prestigious UEFA Champions League, it leaves both teams focusing more on the Premier League. What the Blues will need to secure the title is for their star player David Silva to be on top form throughout the season whilst remaining fit. For United to be in contention for the Premiership title, then their star man and English international Wayne Rooney will have to be playing at his best and avoid injury.

The slight down turn of form for Newcastle after an excellent start to the season has increased the expectation that the Magpies will need to enter the transfer market in the January window if manager Alan Pardew is to maintain their challenge for a place in Europe.

Given the excellent finds and value that the club has been unearthing in the French and Dutch market, the soccer betting tips anticipate that the Toon will continue to mine those leagues.

First up is Sochaux striker Mobido Maiga who was the subject of a protracted chase in the summer before failing to make the move at the last moment. In the interim the delays have been ironed out and the Malian could make the move across the channel without further delay, his departure for the African Nations Cup notwithstanding.

Newcastle have also been linked with FC Twente hit man Luuk de Jong, previously known to be a target for Arsenal as a potential back up for the often injured Robin van Persie. However this is more likely to happen, if at all, in the summer as Newcastle are expected to only sign one striker in the window.

Not so on defense where the club could use multiple players given the injury to Stephen Taylor. Long term target Erik Pieters has again been ruled out by PSV Eindhoven, not least you expect because of Manchester United’s interest in Jetro Willems, Pieters back up. Newcastle may instead turn to unhappy Milan star Taye Taiwo who is expected to move on loan in January. Montpellier’s captain Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa has also been widely linked with the club and with 18 months to go on his contract it is expected that his French club will cash in on him now rather than lose the U-21 international for nothing at the end of next season. If Newcastle can add at both ends of the field during January then they would be highly fancied if you bet on soccer games from now until the end of the season

Paris St Germain sporting director Leonardo has revealed the French outfit will only look to sign Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez if his proposed move to AC Milan falls through.

The Argentina frontman has been linked with a number of clubs from across the world with the likes of Milan, Juventus, Corinthians and Boca Juniors all touted as potential suitors for the want-away player, who is believed to be in his homeland waiting for a deal to be completed. Those looking at the football predictions should bear this in mind.

Tevez has had a torrid time with City following his infamous touchline spat with Blues boss Roberto Mancini in their Champions League defeat at the hands of Bayern Munch earlier this season.

The 27-year-old has not featured for the Premier League leaders since and has had his representatives looking for an alternative club to join in the January transfer window. Those following the Premier League betting should remember this.

Milan are the current frontrunners to lure the player to the San Siro, however there has a been reported disagreement on the type of deal for the player, with the Italian outfit preferring to loan Tevez whereas City want to see the back of the striker for good.

PSG are high up on the list of potential suitors, however former Milan player and manager Leonardo has insisted he will not get in the way of his old club’s affairs.
He told La Repubblica: “I will not steal Tevez from Milan.

“I have not contacted the player and I will not get in between the Rossoneri’s affairs.

“Even though I didn’t share the views of (AC Milan owner Silvio) Berlusconi which meant it was impossible for me to stay at Milan, the relations with the club are good.”
